The tote is really an organization question

Notes from looking closely at Cuyana's System Tote and the distinction between a beautiful bag and a useful work bag.

Note 01

The useful idea

Cuyana treats the tote less like a single finished object and more like a base that can take a laptop sleeve, pouch, or flap bag. That is a better question than whether it photographs neatly on an office chair: would the contents I carry stay in their own places on a rushed Tuesday?

Note 02

What I would put in it first

A laptop, its charger, keys, a water bottle, and the small things that usually end up loose at the bottom. If the add-ons make that list calmer, the system earns its complication. If a simple zip pouch already solves it, the add-on cost deserves a pause.

Note 03

The part that cannot be answered online

Handle drop and bag weight change everything once a coat is involved. I would compare the listed dimensions with the shoulder bag already in rotation, then check how the opening feels when the tote is full rather than half-empty.

A work bag does not need to be clever. It needs to make the things you carry feel less like loose change in a drawer.
